Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases: 

New daily PCR cases: 904; Probable Cases: 109

Total Cases: 2,175,439 (1,878,966 PCR cases, 296,473 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: Six (10 probable deaths, 33,027 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.85 for the second day in a row

Percent Positivity: 2.2 as of March 2; by region, the rate was 2.2% in the North, 2.2% in the Central region and 2.4% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 100 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 3,084 deaths, 321 probable deaths 

Essex County: 85 New Cases, 11 Probable Cases, 3,262 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 85 New Cases, 12 Probable Cases, 2,484 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 28 New Cases, eight Probable Cases, 1,219 deaths, 297 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 78 New Cases, two Probable Cases, 2,119 deaths, 199 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 13 New Cases, three Probable Cases, 376 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: Five New Cases, no Probable Cases, 311 deaths, 27 probable deaths 

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 592 (212 North, 205 Central and 175 South). The total is the first time under 600 since Aug. 4, 2020

Patients in intensive care units: 113

Patients on ventilators: 65

Patients discharged: 86

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 344 (2,374 overall)

Current number of residents: 8,838 (47,081 overall)

Current number of staffers: 10,272 (28,088 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,301 overall (8,506 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,314,403 (13,750,304 in-state, plus an additional 564,099 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,771,217 (6,546,017 in state and another 225,2001 out of state) By county,  716,234 in Bergen County, 585,340 in Essex, 523,019 in Hudson, 383,677 in Morris, 355,569 in Passaic, 92,129 in Sussex, and 60,045 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,126,696  (1,721,486 Pfizer, 1,339,452 Moderna and 65,785 Johnson & Johnson)
