Latest COVID-19 numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases: 

New daily PCR cases: 1,072; Probable Cases: 180

Total Cases: 2,176,633 (1,880,022 PCR cases, 296,611 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 23 (7 probable deaths, 33,050 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.83, declining from 0.85 the day before

Percent Positivity: 2.1 as of March 3; by region, the rate was 2.0% in the North, 2.2% in the Central region and 2.0% in the South.

Bergen County: 140 New Cases, 25 Probable Cases, 3,087 deaths, 321 probable deaths 

Essex County: 94 New Cases, 11 Probable Cases, 3,263 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 167 New Cases, six Probable Cases, 2,485 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 58 New Cases, 18 Probable Cases, 1,219 deaths, 297 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 88 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 2,121 deaths, 199 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 19 New Cases, seven Probable Cases, 378 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: Seven New Cases, one Probable Case, 311 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 615 (239 North, 206 Central and 170 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 112

Patients on ventilators: 68

Patients discharged: 49

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 326 (2,376 overall)

Current number of residents: 8,898 (47,097 overall)

Current number of staffers: 9,810 (38,120 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,316 overall (8,507 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,330,868 (13,766,192 in-state, plus an additional 564,676 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,780,184 (6,554,781 in state and another 225,403 out of state) By county,  716,888 in Bergen County, 586,313 in Essex, 523,819 in Hudson, 384,033 in Morris, 356,183 in Passaic, 92,196 in Sussex, and 60,124 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,143,455  (1,732,200 Pfizer, 1,345,132 Moderna and 66,123 Johnson & Johnson)
