Latest COVID-19 numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases: 

New daily PCR cases: 747; Probable Cases: 256

Total Cases: 2,177,598 (1,880,770 PCR cases, 296,828 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 12 (7 probable deaths, 33,054 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.84, increasing from 0.84 the day before

Percent Positivity: 2.5 as of March 4; by region, the rate was 2.5% in the North, 2.6% in the Central region and 2.7% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 115 New Cases, 24 Probable Cases, 3,087 deaths, 321 probable deaths 

Essex County: 101 New Cases, 6 Probable Cases, 3,266 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 73 New Cases, 5 Probable Cases, 2,485 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 40 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 1,219 deaths, 297 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 40 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 2,121 deaths, 199 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 12 New Cases, 15 Probable Cases, 378 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: 5 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 311 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 599 (209 North, 203 Central and 187 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 102

Patients on ventilators: 56

Patients discharged: 88

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 318 (2,378 overall)

Current number of residents: 8,249 (47,118 overall)

Current number of staffers: 9,474 (38,152 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,321 overall (8,509 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,335,295 (13,770,377 in-state, plus an additional 564,918 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,782,770 (6,557,294 in state and another 225,476 out of state) By county,  716,888 in Bergen County, 586,313 in Essex, 523,819 in Hudson, 384,033 in Morris, 356,183 in Passaic, 92,196 in Sussex, and 60,124 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,148,268  (1,735,092 Pfizer, 1,346,943 Moderna and 66,233 Johnson & Johnson)
