Latest COVID-19 numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases: 

New daily PCR cases: 359; Probable Cases: 86

Total Cases: 2,181,828 (1,884,412 PCR cases, 297,416 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 3 (13 probable deaths, 33,114 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.84, for the third day in a row

Percent Positivity: 1.9% as of March 8; by region, the rate was 1.8% in the North, 2.2% in the Central region and 1.9% in the South.

Bergen County: 33 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 3,092 deaths, 321 probable deaths 

Essex County: 33 New Cases, 9 Probable Cases, 3,275 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 42 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 2,487 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 31 New Cases, 0 Probable Cases, 1,225 deaths, 297 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 17 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 2,120 deaths, 200 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 5 New Cases, 0 Probable Case, 378 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: 1 New Cases, 0 Probable Cases, 312 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 462 (171 North, 158 Central and 133 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 84

Patients on ventilators: 50

Patients discharged: 80

Current number of staffers: 8,179 (38,203 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,332 overall (8,518 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,351,301 (13,785,224 in-state, plus an additional 566,077 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,792,657 (6,566,745 in state and another 225,912 out of state) By county,  717,856 in Bergen County, 587,785 in Essex, 524,914 in Hudson, 384,439 in Morris, 357,229 in Passaic, 92,297 in Sussex, and 60,217 in Warren.
