Latest COVID-19 numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases: 

New daily PCR cases: 1,012; Probable Cases: 205

Total Cases: 2,216,804 (1,912,503 PCR cases, 304,301 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 4 (0 probable deaths, 33,308 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.23, up from 1.19 a day earlier

Percent Positivity: 5.3% as of April 6; by region, the rate was 5.0% in the North, 6.6% in the Central region and 3.9% in the South.

Bergen County: 144 New Cases, 44 Probable Cases, 3,109 deaths, 323 probable deaths 

Essex County: 111 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 3,286 deaths, 312 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 65 New Cases, 17 Probable Cases, 2,499 total deaths, 223 probable deaths 

Morris County: 71 New Cases, 12 Probable Cases, 1,230 deaths, 299 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 50 New Cases, 6 Probable Cases, 2,131 deaths, 203 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 17 New Cases, 1 Probable Case, 385 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: 9 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 314 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 366 (148 North, 134 Central and 84 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 38

Patients on ventilators: 26

Patients discharged: 48

Current number of staffers: 3,188 (38,452 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,422 overall (8,531 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,387,386 (13,883,060 in-state, plus an additional 504,326 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,830,812 (6,630,384 in state and another 200,428 out of state). By county,  722,254 in Bergen County, 593,601 in Essex, 529,663 in Hudson, 386,740 in Morris, 359,900 in Passaic, 92,847 in Sussex, and 60,681 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,352,493 (1,850,070 Pfizer, 1,433,407 Moderna and 69,016 Johnson & Johnson)
