Latest COVID-19 numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 1,634; Probable Cases: 654

Total Cases: 2,235,034 (1,927,349 PCR cases, 307,685 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 8 (3 probable deaths, 33,356 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.24

Percent Positivity: 7.7% as of April 15; by region, the rate was 7.5% in the North, 9.0% in the Central region and 6.2% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 245 New Cases, 94 Probable Cases, 3,113 deaths, 323 probable deaths 

Essex County: 163 New Cases, 47 Probable Cases, 3,289 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 87 New Cases, 44 Probable Cases, 2,499 total deaths, 223 probable deaths 

Morris County: 118 New Cases, 49 Probable Cases, 1,235 deaths, 299 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 72 New Cases, 30 Probable Cases, 2,132 deaths, 203 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 24 New Cases, 10 Probable Cases, 385 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: 9 New Cases, 5 Probable Cases, 314 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 396 (133 North, 153 Central and 110 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 46

Patients on ventilators: 20

Patients discharged: 64

The state dashboard showed 68 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 149 (2,480 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,372 (47,887 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,747 (38,582 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,457 overall (8,555 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,424,534 (13,915,488 in-state, plus an additional 509,046 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,852,329 (6,650,577 in state and another 201,752 out of state). By county,  724,274 in Bergen County, 595,024 in Essex, 531,172 in Hudson, 387,719 in Morris, 360,961 in Passaic, 93,088 in Sussex, and 60,929 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,486,886 (1,921,823 Pfizer, 1,495,056 Moderna and 70,007 Johnson & Johnson)
