Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,369; Probable Cases: 468

Total Cases: 2,237,831 (1,929,717 PCR cases, 308,114 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 7 (5 probable deaths, 33,363 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.24 for a second day in a row

Percent Positivity: 9.9% as of April 16; by region, the rate was 9.6% in the North, 12.0% in the Central region and 7.1% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 292 New Cases, 50 Probable Cases, 3,115 deaths, 323 probable deaths 

Essex County: 186 New Cases, 38 Probable Cases, 3,290 deaths, 311 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 158 New Cases, 21 Probable Cases, 2,499 total deaths, 223 probable deaths 

Morris County: 117 New Cases, 37 Probable Cases, 1,235 deaths, 299 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 81 New Cases, 14 Probable Cases, 2,132 deaths, 203 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 42 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 385 deaths, 88 probable deaths 

Warren County: 20 New Cases, 4 Probable Cases, 314 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 425, the first time in a month above 400 (164 North, 158 Central and 103 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 54

Patients on ventilators: 20

Patients discharged: 75

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 152 (2,486 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,316 (47,927 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,730 (38,606 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,474 overall (8,556 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,427,687 (13,918,641 in-state, plus an additional 509,046 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,854,279 (6,652,527 in state and another 201,752 out of state). By county,  724,492 in Bergen County, 595,192 in Essex, 531,466 in Hudson, 387,793 in Morris, 361,039 in Passaic, 93,114 in Sussex, and 60,949 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,198,799 (1,928,219 Pfizer, 1,500,502 Moderna and 70,078 Johnson & Johnson)
