Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 1,275; Probable Cases: 246

Total Cases: 2,246,233 (1,936,765 PCR cases, 3089,468 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 3 (7 probable deaths, 33,395 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.14, declining from 1.16 late last week

Percent Positivity: 7.2% as of April 20; by region, the rate was 7.5% in the North, 7.5% in the Central region and 5.6% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 161 New Cases, 30 Probable Cases, 3,118 deaths, 323 probable deaths 

Essex County: 124 New Cases, 18 Probable Cases, 3,290 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 83 New Cases, 19 Probable Cases, 2,498 total deaths, 223 probable deaths 

Morris County: 118 New Cases, 18 Probable Cases, 1,235 deaths, 302 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 47 New Cases, 14 Probable Cases, 2,132 deaths, 203 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 21 New Cases, 4 Probable Cases, 386 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 17 New Cases, 0 Probable Cases, 314 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 462 (179 North, 160 Central and 123 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 55

Patients on ventilators: 23

Patients discharged: 80

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 161 (2,502 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,183 (48,082 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,541 (38,701 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,483 overall (8,559 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,430,203 (13,920,535 in-state, plus an additional 509,668 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,856,047 (6,654,116 in state and another 201,931 out of state). By county,  724,616 in Bergen County, 595,339 in Essex, 531,637 in Hudson, 387,869 in Morris, 361,122 in Passaic, 93,142 in Sussex, and 60,962 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,509,943 (1,933,943 Pfizer, 1,505,327 Moderna and 70,149 Johnson & Johnson)
