Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,452; Probable Cases: 584

Total Cases: 2,252,044 (1,940,928 PCR cases, 311,116 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 14 (7 probable deaths, 33,416 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.10, up from 1.09 a day before

Percent Positivity: 8.1% as of April 22; by region, the rate was 8.5% in the North, 8.7% in the Central region and 6.0% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 311 New Cases, 98 Probable Cases, 3,120 deaths, 323 probable deaths 

Essex County: 243 New Cases, 29 Probable Cases, 3,291 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 257 New Cases, 49 Probable Cases, 2,498 total deaths, 223 probable deaths 

Morris County: 142 New Cases, 42 Probable Cases, 1,235 deaths, 302 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 191 New Cases, 21 Probable Cases, 2,132 deaths, 203 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 31 New Cases, 15 Probable Cases, 387 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 20 New Cases, 6 Probable Cases, 314 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 468 (176 North, 176 Central and 116 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 52

Patients on ventilators: 21

Patients discharged: 74

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 170 (2,522 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,108 (48,182 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,391 (38,759 overall)

Number of Deaths: 8,985 overall (8,559 reported by facilities, 149 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,438,348 (13,927,754 in-state, plus an additional 510,594 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,864,027 (6,659,337 in state and another 204,690 out of state). By county,  725,087 in Bergen County, 595,904 in Essex, 532,032 in Hudson, 388,138 in Morris, 361,410 in Passaic, 93,186 in Sussex, and 61,011 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,547,210 (1,954,023 Pfizer, 1,522,774 Moderna and 70,413 Johnson & Johnson)
