Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com has changed how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 1,339; Probable Cases: 334

Total Cases: 2,267,006 (1,953,193 PCR cases, 313,813 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 2 (5 probable deaths, 33,444 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.16, up from 1.15 the day before

Percent Positivity: 7.5% as of April 27; by region, the rate was 7.2% in the North, 8.4% in the Central region and 6.7% in the South.

By County:

Bergen County: 146 New Cases, 59 Probable Cases, 3,123 deaths, 325 probable deaths 

Essex County: 185 New Cases, 31 Probable Cases, 3,293 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 62 New Cases, 24 Probable Cases, 2,498 total deaths, 222 probable deaths 

Morris County: 96 New Cases, 22 Probable Cases, 1,238 deaths, 303 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 49 New Cases, 14 Probable Cases, 2,131 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 16 New Cases, 1 Probable Case, 386 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 20 New Cases, 1 Probable Case, 315 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 510 (185 North, 187 Central and 138 South)

Patients in intensive care units: 55

Patients on ventilators: 25

Patients discharged: 54

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 192 (2,555 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,278 (48,446 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,501 (38,931 overall)

Number of Deaths: 8,994 overall (8,565 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,446,915 (13,935,905 in-state, plus an additional 511,010 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,869,227 (6,664,619 in state and another 204,608 out of state). By county,  725,623 in Bergen County, 596,470 in Essex, 532,516 in Hudson, 388,350 in Morris, 361,672 in Passaic, 93,240 in Sussex, and 61,071 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,580,502 (1,966,147 Pfizer, 1,533,317 Moderna and 70,583 Johnson & Johnson)
