Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:1,817; Probable Cases: 441

Total Cases: 2,291,089 (1,972,663 PCR cases, 316,822 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 1 (8 probable deaths, 33,495 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.23, up from 1.20 last Friday

Percent Positivity: 10.0% as of May 4; by region, the rate was 9.8% in the North, 11.2% in the Central region and 8.5% in the South.

Bergen County: 222 New Cases, 63 Probable Cases, 3,125 deaths, 325 probable deaths 

Essex County: 193 New Cases, 49 Probable Cases, 3,298 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 131 New Cases, 29 Probable Cases, 2,500 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 129 New Cases, 22 Probable Cases, 1,242 deaths, 304 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 133 New Cases, 29 Probable Cases, 2,132 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 28 New Cases, 5 Probable Cases, 386 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 14 New Cases, 5 Probable Cases, 315 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 609 (235 North, 194 Central and 180 South) 

Patients in intensive care units: 74

Patients on ventilators: 28

Patients discharged: 91

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 230 (2,604 overall)

Current number of residents: 2,717 (49,021 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,512 (39,161 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,048 overall (8,576 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,464,149 (13,961,719 in-state, plus an additional 502,430 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,882,088 (6,680,108 in state and another 201,980 out of state). By county,  727,027 in Bergen County, 597,772 in Essex, 533,644 in Hudson, 389,003 in Morris, 362,367 in Passaic, 93,404 in Sussex, and 61,245 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,670,733 (2,020,890 Pfizer, 1,578,564 Moderna and 71,279 Johnson & Johnson)
