Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,904; Probable Cases: 415

Total Cases: 2,325,515 (2,000,106 PCR cases, 325,419 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 2 (2 probable death, 33,553 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.26, up from 1.22 on May 13

Percent Positivity: 12.1% as of May 12; by region, the rate was 12.1% in the North, 12.7% in the Central region and 10.8% in the South

Bergen County: 391 New Cases, 38 Probable Cases, 3,133 deaths, 325 probable deaths 

Essex County: 217 New Cases, 28 Probable Cases, 3,301 deaths, 314 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 210 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 2,500 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 194 New Cases, 20 Probable Cases, 1,246 deaths, 305 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 119 New Cases, 11 Probable Cases, 2,135 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 49 New Cases, 12 Probable Cases, 387 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 31 New Cases, 1 Probable Case, 315 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 777 (307 North, 246 Central and 224 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 96

Patients on ventilators: 39

Patients discharged: 116

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 290 (2,672 overall)

Current number of residents: 3,175 (49,521 overall)

Current number of staffers: 2,930 (39,592 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,049 overall (8,593 reported by facilities, 141 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,480,504 (13,976,215 in-state, plus an additional 504,289 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,886,905 (6,689,798 in state and another 203,341 out of state). By county,  727,930 in Bergen County, 598,745 in Essex, 534,501 in Hudson, 389,420 in Morris, 362,797 in Passaic, 93,491 in Sussex, and 61,378 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,736,510 (2,055,939 Pfizer, 1,608,910 Moderna and 71,661 Johnson & Johnson)
