North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. This is a disaster. Where are are public leaders at a time of crisis like this? Where is their courage to act to protect the safety of our residents? Is re-election so important to them that they would sacrifice lives by failing to act to re-institute mitigation measures, like universal masking, vaccine requirements, and closure of non-essential indoor in-person businesses?
Imagine what will happen with this sort of negligence when the inevitable escape variant emerges, and sends us back to square one without any means of pharmacological protection? Do we really want to wait till we have to return to lines of refrigerated trucks filled with dead bodies?
