Latest COVID-19 Numbers in New Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 4,835; Probable Cases: 1,338

Total Cases: 2,341,250 (2,012,287 PCR cases, 328,963 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 9 (4 probable death, 33,595 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.29, up from 1.28

Percent Positivity: 17.4% as of May 14; by region, the rate was 17.1% in the North, 19.3% in the Central region and 15.1% in the South

Bergen County: 518 New Cases, 174 Probable Cases, 3,140 deaths, 325 probable deaths 

Essex County: 392 New Cases, 105 Probable Cases, 3,302 deaths, 314 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 391 New Cases, 105 Probable Cases, 2,501 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 319 New Cases, 75 Probable Cases, 1,248 deaths, 305 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 262 New Cases, 59 Probable Cases, 2,135 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 84 New Cases, 9 Probable Cases, 387 deaths, 89 probable deaths 

Warren County: 36 New Cases, 7 Probable Case, 316 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 842 (303 North, 308 Central and 231 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 99

Patients on ventilators: 39

Patients discharged: 153

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 315 (2,704 overall)

Current number of residents: 3,383 (49,815 overall)

Current number of staffers: 3,121 (39,834 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,049 overall (8,602 reported by facilities, 140 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,485,968 (13,981,486 in-state, plus an additional 504,482 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,896,009 (6,692,606 in state and another 203,403 out of state). By county,  728,231 in Bergen County, 599,073 in Essex, 534,688 in Hudson, 389,553 in Morris, 362,921 in Passaic, 93,523 in Sussex, and 61,406 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,755,265 (2,066,141 Pfizer, 1,617,360 Moderna and 71,764 Johnson & Johnson)
