Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,602; Probable Cases: 1,079

Total Cases: 2,398,157 (2,057,9287 PCR cases, 340,229 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 25 (8 probable deaths, 33,727 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.00, down from 1.09 on Sunday

Percent Positivity: 12.9% as of May 27; by region, the rate was 12.5% in the North, 14.0% in the Central region and 11.8% in the South

Bergen County: 291 New Cases, 100 Probable Cases, 3,145 deaths, 327 probable deaths 

Essex County: 227 New Cases, 65 Probable Cases, 3,311 deaths, 314 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 265 New Cases, 25 Probable Cases, 2,510 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 130 New Cases, 79 Probable Cases, 1,256 deaths, 305 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 170 New Cases, 41 Probable Cases, 2,140 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 19 New Cases, 18 Probable Cases, 389 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 29 New Cases, 25 Probable Cases, 316 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 910 (345 North, 318 Central and 247 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 117

Patients on ventilators: 48

Patients discharged: 102

The state dashboard showed 71 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 355 (2,765 overall)

Current number of residents: 3,7964 (50,544 overall)

Current number of staffers: 3,647 (40,500 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,122 overall (8,615 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,517,886 (14,010,762 in-state, plus an additional 507,124 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,913,694 (6,708,840 in state and another 204,854 out of state). By county,  729,876 in Bergen County, 600,862 in Essex, 535,932 in Hudson, 390,349 in Morris, 363,730 in Passaic, 93,716 in Sussex, and 61,612 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,859,949 (2,123,562 Pfizer, 1,664,179 Moderna and 72,208 Johnson & Johnson)
