Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,040; Probable Cases: 420

Total Cases: 2,417,401 (2,073,161 PCR cases, 344,240 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 2 (6 probable deaths, 33,773 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.86, down from 0.88 a day earlier

Percent Positivity: 10.1% as of June 1; by region, the rate was 9.5% in the North, 10.1% in the Central region and 10.7% in the South

Bergen County: 226 New Cases, 49 Probable Cases, 3,148 deaths, 330 probable deaths 

Essex County: 187 New Cases, 33 Probable Cases, 3,313 deaths, 315 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 173 New Cases, 33 Probable Cases, 2,512 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 160 New Cases, 26 Probable Cases, 1,257 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 126 New Cases, 17 Probable Cases, 2,142 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 29 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 391 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 18 New Cases, 1 Probable Case, 317 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 876 (333 North, 287 Central and 256 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 107

Patients on ventilators: 41

Patients discharged: 145

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 374 (2,792 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,205 (50,860 overall)

Current number of staffers: 3,856 (40,725 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,114 overall (8,620 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,532,366 (14,022,831 in-state, plus an additional 509,535 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,921,674 (6,715,463 in state and another 206,211 out of state). By county,  730,580 in Bergen County, 601,566 in Essex, 536,427 in Hudson, 390,693 in Morris, 364,076 in Passaic, 93,779 in Sussex, and 61,672 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,896,226 (2,144,297 Pfizer, 1,679,566 Moderna and 72,363 Johnson & Johnson)
