Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 2,828; Probable Cases: 914

Total Cases: 2,421,092 (2,078,712 PCR cases, 345,894 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 19 (11 probable deaths, 33,811 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.88, up from 0.86 the day before

Percent Positivity: 11.1% as of June 3; by region, the rate was 11.1% in the North, 11.9% in the Central region and 10.0% in the South

Bergen County: 338 New Cases, 115 Probable Cases, 3,153 deaths, 330 probable deaths 

Essex County: 275 New Cases, 61 Probable Cases, 3,315 deaths, 315 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 294 New Cases, 89 Probable Cases, 2,513 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 172 New Cases, 53 Probable Cases, 1,258 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 174 New Cases, 41 Probable Cases, 2,144 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 26 New Cases, 6 Probable Cases, 395 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 19 New Cases, 21 Probable Cases, 317 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 903 (334 North, 299 Central and 270 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 110

Patients on ventilators: 35

Patients discharged: 146

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 373 (2,801 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,259 (50,966 overall)

Current number of staffers: 3,916 (40,802 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,142 overall (8,621 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,533,994 (14,024,459 in-state, plus an additional 509,535 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,922,753 (6,716,542 in state and another 206,211 out of state). By county,  730,673 in Bergen County, 601,694 in Essex, 536,500 in Hudson, 390,734 in Morris, 364,131 in Passaic, 93,783 in Sussex, and 61,709 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,902,583 (2,147,747 Pfizer, 1,682,431 Moderna and 72,405 Johnson & Johnson)
