Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 3,120; Probable Cases: 769

Total Cases: 2,421,092 (2,081,818 PCR cases, 346,529 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 11 (6 probable deaths, 33,821 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.87, down from 0.88 the day before

Percent Positivity: 15.5% as of June 4; by region, the rate was 15.3% in the North, 16.9% in the Central region and 14.0% in the South

Bergen County: 347 New Cases, 86 Probable Cases, 3,155 deaths, 330 probable deaths 

Essex County: 311 New Cases, 48 Probable Cases, 3,315 deaths, 315 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 262 New Cases, 39 Probable Cases, 2,513 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 152 New Cases, 57 Probable Cases, 1,259 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 174 New Cases, 27 Probable Cases, 2,144 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 29 New Cases, 12 Probable Cases, 396 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 21 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 317 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 862 (316 North, 291 Central and 255 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 92

Patients on ventilators: 37

Patients discharged: 178

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 367 (2,803 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,232 (501,009 overall)

Current number of staffers: 3,924 (40,841 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,142 overall (8,625 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,536,178 (14,026,552 in-state, plus an additional 509,626 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,923,861 (6,717,620 in state and another 206,241 out of state). By county,  730,877 in Bergen County, 601,918 in Essex, 536,709 in Hudson, 390,832 in Morris, 364,252 in Passaic, 93,801 in Sussex, and 61,727 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,913,976 (2,154,484 Pfizer, 1,687,028 Moderna and 72,464 Johnson & Johnson)
