Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 1,223; Probable Cases: 407

Total Cases: 2,438,510 (2,090,176 PCR cases, 348,334 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 2 (5 probable deaths, 33,859 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.89 for a second day in a row

Percent Positivity: 9.1% as of June 8; by region, the rate was 8.6% in the North, 9.7% in the Central region and 9.5% in the South

Bergen County: 127 New Cases, 72 Probable Cases, 3,161 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 128 New Cases, 27 Probable Cases, 3,316 deaths, 315 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 104 New Cases, 32 Probable Cases, 2,515 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 71 New Cases, 22 Probable Cases, 1,259 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 46 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 2,145 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 17 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 396 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 8 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 318 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 785 (308 North, 252 Central and 225 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 72

Patients on ventilators: 35

Patients discharged: 234

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 367 (2,813 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,342 (51,190 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,004 (40,955 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,142 overall (8,629 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,541,988 (14,030,705 in-state, plus an additional 511,283 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,927,888 (6,721,060 in state and another 206,828 out of state). By county,  731,092 in Bergen County, 602,202 in Essex, 536,861 in Hudson, 390,981 in Morris, 364,351 in Passaic, 93,825 in Sussex, and 61,753in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,928,316 (2,162,448 Pfizer, 1,693,354 Moderna and 72,514 Johnson & Johnson)
