Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:  2,494; Probable Cases: 627

Total Cases: 2,444,707 (2,094,994 PCR cases, 349,713 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 17 (8 probable deaths, 33,896 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.89 for a fourth day in a row

Percent Positivity: 11.3% as of June 10; by region, the rate was 10.8% in the North, 12.0% in the Central region and 11.6% in the South

Bergen County: 288 New Cases, 109 Probable Cases, 3,165 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 239 New Cases, 53 Probable Cases, 3,316 deaths, 315 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 276 New Cases, 62 Probable Cases, 2,517 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 155 New Cases, 44 Probable Cases, 1,261 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 167 New Cases, 17 Probable Cases, 2,146 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 23 New Cases, 4 Probable Cases, 397 deaths, 93 probable deaths 

Warren County: 15 New Cases, 4 Probable Cases, 318 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 813 (318 North, 256 Central and 239 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 91

Patients on ventilators: 34

Patients discharged: 137

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 367 (2,819 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,337 (51,313 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,087 (41,057 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,158 overall (8,635 reported by facilities, 139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,546,488 (14,035,017 in-state, plus an additional 511,471 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,930,531 (6,723,326 in state and another 207,205 out of state). By county,  731,332 in Bergen County, 602,501 in Essex, 537,057 in Hudson, 391,090 in Morris, 364,486 in Passaic, 93,855 in Sussex, and 61,772 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,939,656 (2,169,210 Pfizer, 1,697,877 Moderna and 72,569 Johnson & Johnson)
