Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:  1,862; Probable Cases: 843

Total Cases: 2,460,655 (2,107,600 PCR cases, 353,055 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 10 (4 probable deaths, 33,949 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.82 for the third day in a row

Percent Positivity: 9.0% as of June 16; by region, the rate was 9.4% in the North, 9.0% in the Central region and 7.8% in the South

By County:

Bergen County: 190 New Cases, 93 Probable Cases, 3,168 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 187 New Cases, 53 Probable Cases, 3,316 deaths, 314 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 186 New Cases, 72 Probable Cases, 2,520 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 110 New Cases, 55 Probable Cases, 1,266 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 104 New Cases, 36 Probable Cases, 2,148 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 15 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 402 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 21 New Cases, 15 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 745 (284 North, 253 Central and 208 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 85

Patients on ventilators: 25

Patients discharged: 79

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 360 (2,831 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,517(51,513 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,202 (41,241 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,185 overall (8,638 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,527,241 (14,014,669 in-state, plus an additional 512,572 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,936,989 (6,729,263 in state and another 207,726 out of state). By county,  732,138 in Bergen County, 603,086 in Essex, 537,563 in Hudson, 391,370 in Morris, 364,804 in Passaic, 93,908 in Sussex, and 61,824 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,966,149 (2,183,784 Pfizer, 1,709,684 Moderna and 72,681 Johnson & Johnson)
