Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:  2,111; Probable Cases: 862

Total Cases: 2,441,637 (2,092,487 PCR cases, 349,150 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 20 (7 probable deaths, 33,885 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.82 for the third day in a row

Percent Positivity: 11.3% as of June 17; by region, the rate was 11.1% in the North, 11.9% in the Central region and 10.9% in the South

Bergen County: 248 New Cases, 123 Probable Cases, 3,171 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 232 New Cases, 67 Probable Cases, 3,316 deaths, 314 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 262 New Cases, 70 Probable Cases, 2,522 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 90 New Cases, 59 Probable Cases, 1,269 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 139 New Cases, 40 Probable Cases, 2,148 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 33 New Cases, 11 Probable Cases, 402 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 14 New Cases, 10 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 724 (284 North, 234 Central and 206 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 81

Patients on ventilators: 31

Patients discharged: 133

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 356 (2,833 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,482 (51,550 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,194 (41,288 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,187 overall (8,641 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,520,898 (14,008,326 in-state, plus an additional 512,572 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,937,694 (6,729,968 in state and another 207,726 out of state). By county,  732,198 in Bergen County, 603,189 in Essex, 537,616 in Hudson, 391,400 in Morris, 364,837 in Passaic, 93,911 in Sussex, and 61,831 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,970,320 (2,185,839 Pfizer, 1,711,776 Moderna and 72,705 Johnson & Johnson)
