Latest COVID-19 Update for North Jersey

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:  1,205; Probable Cases: 363

Total Cases: 2,478,067 (2,120,906 PCR cases, 357,161 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 3 (3 probable deaths, 34,007 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.82 for the third day in a row

Percent Positivity: 9.1% as of June 22; by region, the rate was 9.5% in the North, 8.9% in the Central region and 8.3% in the South

Bergen County: 130 New Cases, 60 Probable Cases, 3,173 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 121 New Cases, 40 Probable Cases, 3,322 deaths, 312 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 96 New Cases, 39 Probable Cases, 2,520 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 72 New Cases, 22 Probable Cases, 1,268 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 52 New Cases, 21 Probable Cases, 2,151 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 22 New Cases, 0 Probable Cases, 403 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 8 New Cases, 4 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 726 (281 North, 237 Central and 208 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 93

Patients on ventilators: 30

Patients discharged: 104

The state dashboard showed 69 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 352 (2,844 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,398 (51,617 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,252 (41,433 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,215 overall (8,647 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,568,748 (14,056,171 in-state, plus an additional 512,577 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,942,406 (6,735,601 in state and another 206,805 out of state). By county,  732,695 in Bergen County, 603,909 in Essex, 538,225 in Hudson, 391,698 in Morris, 365,103 in Passaic, 93,975 in Sussex, and 61,876 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 3,996,232 (2,201,088 Pfizer, 1,722,315 Moderna and 72,829 Johnson & Johnson)
