North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases:  2,298; Probable Cases: 843

Total Cases: 2,505,692 (2,142,182 PCR cases, 363,510 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 17 (6 probable deaths, 34,083 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.04 for a second day in a row

Percent Positivity: 12.5% as of July 1; by region, the rate was 12.7% in the North, 12.7% in the Central region and 11.7% in the South

By County:

Bergen County: 276 New Cases, 150 Probable Cases, 3,177 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 307 New Cases, 69 Probable Cases, 3,325 deaths, 312 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 193 New Cases, 60 Probable Cases, 2,525 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 171 New Cases, 51 Probable Cases, 1,273 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 138 New Cases, 41 Probable Cases, 2,154 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 33 New Cases, 10 Probable Cases, 403 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 14 New Cases, 9 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 885 (361 North, 264 Central and 260 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 99

Patients on ventilators: 34

Patients discharged: 87

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 342 (2,874 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,520 (51,989 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,465 (41,829 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,302 overall (8,652 reported by facilities,142 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,588,103 (14,085,261 in-state, plus an additional 502,752 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,953,502 (6,749,861 in state and another 203,641 out of state). By county,  733,194 in Bergen County, 604,644 in Essex, 538,773 in Hudson, 391,920 in Morris, 365,431 in Passaic, 94,023 in Sussex, and 61,916 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 4,025,970 (2,218,907 Pfizer, 1,734,106 Moderna and 72,957 Johnson & Johnson)
