Latest North Jersey COVID-19 Update: Highest Number of New Cases Since June 4

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 3,532, the highest total since June 4; Probable Cases: 911

Total Cases: 2,535,067 (2,164,884 PCR cases, 370,183 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 12 (5 probable deaths, 34,145 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.05, unchanged from the day before

Percent Positivity: 18.2% as of July 9; by region, the rate was 18.5% in the North, 18.6% in the Central region and 16.6% in the South

By County:

Bergen County: 429 New Cases, 111 Probable Cases, 3,183 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 368 New Cases, 86 Probable Cases, 3,326 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 284 New Cases, 79 Probable Cases, 2,525 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 206 New Cases, 54 Probable Cases, 1,277 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 199 New Cases, 43 Probable Cases, 2,160 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 33 New Cases, 13 Probable Cases, 404 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 26 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 808 (324 North, 204 Central and 280 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 90

Patients on ventilators: 36

Patients discharged: 164

The state dashboard showed 60 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 367 (2,935 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,655 (52,440 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,753 (42,321 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,373 overall (8,663 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,609,782 (14,106,094 in-state, plus an additional 503,688 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,963,723 (6,759,656 in state and another 204,067 out of state). By county,  735,068 in Bergen County, 605,971 in Essex, 539,949 in Hudson, 392,673 in Morris, 366,057 in Passaic, 94,168 in Sussex, and 62,033 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 4,073,512 (2,246,297 Pfizer, 1,754,035 Moderna and 73,180 Johnson & Johnson)
