Latest North Jersey COVID-19 Update

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey. 

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 3,129, the highest total since June 4; Probable Cases: 931

Total Cases: 2,539,038 (2,168,005 PCR cases, 371,033 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 7 (3 probable deaths, 34,152 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 1.08, up from 1.05 the day before

Percent Positivity: 18.2% as of July 9; by region, the rate was 18.5% in the North, 18.6% in the Central region and 16.6% in the South

By County:

Bergen County: 376 New Cases, 119 Probable Cases, 3,183 deaths, 335 probable deaths 

Essex County: 364 New Cases, 84 Probable Cases, 3,326 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 220 New Cases, 96 Probable Cases, 2,525 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 142 New Cases, 62 Probable Cases, 1,277 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 165 New Cases, 43 Probable Cases, 2,162 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 20 New Cases, 11 Probable Cases, 404 deaths, 98 probable deaths 

Warren County: 28 New Cases, 19 Probable Cases, 319 deaths, 27 probable deaths

Hospitals 

Hospitalizations: 1,031 (408 North, 313 Central and 310 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 112

Patients on ventilators: 43

Patients discharged: 200

The state dashboard showed 70 of 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 367 (2,939 overall)

Current number of residents: 4,760 (52,552 overall)

Current number of staffers: 4,820 (42,399 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,393 overall (8,664 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,612,595 (14,108,907 in-state, plus an additional 503,688 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 6,964,791 (6,760,724 in state and another 204,067 out of state). By county,  735,168 in Bergen County, 606,112 in Essex, 540,064 in Hudson, 392,714 in Morris, 366,107 in Passaic, 94,177 in Sussex, and 62,047 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 4,078,751 (2,249,338 Pfizer, 1,756,217 Moderna and 73,196 Johnson & Johnson)
