North Jersey COVID-19 Update

North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.

COVID-19 cases:

New daily PCR cases: 1,836; Probable Cases: 778

Total Cases: 2,643,340 (2,250,999 PCR cases, 392,341 probable cases)

New Confirmed Deaths: 10 (7 probable deaths, 34,414 total deaths)

Rate of Transmission: 0.90, down from 0.91 the day before

Percent Positivity: 11.9% as of Aug. 10; by region, the rate was 12.7% in the North, 11.3% in the Central region and 11.2% in the South

By County:

Bergen County: 211 New Cases, 109 Probable Cases, 3,197 deaths, 336 probable deaths 

Essex County: 201 New Cases, 66 Probable Cases, 3,345 deaths, 313 probable deaths 

Hudson County: 127 New Cases, 45 Probable Cases, 2,540 total deaths, 221 probable deaths 

Morris County: 88 New Cases, 62 Probable Cases, 1,293 deaths, 306 probable deaths 

Passaic County: 118 New Cases, 28 Probable Cases, 2,170 deaths, 204 probable deaths 

Sussex County: 25 New Cases, 18 Probable Cases, 410 deaths, 97 probable deaths 

Warren County: 23 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 321 deaths, 28 probable deaths

Hospitals

Hospitalizations: 1,076 (416 North; 358 Central; and 302 South)  

Patients in intensive care units: 112

Patients on ventilators: 27

Patients discharged: 105

The state dashboard showed all 71 hospitals in the state reporting

Long-term Care Facilities

Facilities currently reporting one case: 393 (3,062 overall)

Current number of residents: 5,934 (54,580 overall)

Current number of staffers: 6,124 (44,185 overall)

Number of Deaths: 9,499 overall (8,710 reported by facilities,139 staff deaths)

Vaccine 

Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,693,859 (14,178,800 in-state, plus an additional 515,059 administered out-of-state)

Fully Vaccinated: 7,010,820 (6,801,364 in state and another 209,456 out of state). By county,  738,357 in Bergen County, 610,996 in Essex, 543,567 in Hudson, 394,662 in Morris, 367,861 in Passaic, 94,508 in Sussex, and 62,402 in Warren.

Booster Shots: 4,218,607 (2,330,875 Pfizer, 1,814,144 Moderna and 73,588 Johnson & Johnson)
