North-JerseyNews.com is changing how we cover COVID-19 as the pandemic moves to an endemic. While we will still provide reporting on any major developments in regards to the pandemic, we will be breaking out the most recent numbers from the state’s dashboard instead of including them with a story as we have done since March 2020. It is our belief that this will still provide you with a complete picture of COVID in our community while allowing us to continue to cover other issues of importance in North Jersey.
COVID-19 cases:
New daily PCR cases: 589 (lowest since March 20’s 504) ; Probable Cases: 77
Total Cases: 2,698,753 (2,293,394 PCR cases, 404,359 probable cases)
New Confirmed Deaths: 1 (5 probable deaths, 34,632 total deaths)
Rate of Transmission: 0.88, up from 0.87 the day before
Percent Positivity: 9.5% as of Sept. 6; by region, the rate was 10.3% in the North, 9.3% in the Central region and 8.1% in the South

Bergen County: 48 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 3,215 deaths, 336 probable deaths
Essex County: 77 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 3,362 deaths, 312 probable deaths
Hudson County: 49 New Cases, 2 Probable Cases, 2,555 total deaths, 221 probable deaths
Morris County: 30 New Cases, 6 Probable Cases, 1,305 deaths, 306 probable deaths
Passaic County: 24 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 2,181 deaths, 205 probable deaths
Sussex County: 6 New Cases, 8 Probable Cases, 406 deaths, 97 probable deaths
Warren County: 10 New Cases, 3 Probable Cases, 324 deaths, 29 probable deaths

Vaccine
Total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in New Jersey: 14,738,136 (14,216,115 in-state, plus an additional 522,021 administered out-of-state)
Fully Vaccinated: 7,035,615 (6,825,896 in state and another 209,719 out of state). By county, 740,792 in Bergen County, 614,045 in Essex, 546,185 in Hudson, 395,884 in Morris, 369,110 in Passaic, 94,693 in Sussex, and 62,545 in Warren.
Booster Shots: 4,273,575 (2,363,607 Pfizer, 1,836,100 Moderna and 73,868 Johnson & Johnson)
