Just as the campaign for Congress gets set to sprint to the Nov. 8 finish line, one North Jersey lawmaker will be sidelined due to COVID.
The office of Rep. Mikie Sherrill announced on Sept. 30 that the congresswoman has tested positive for the coronavirus. The announcement comes as House members return to their districts for midterm elections. Sherrill is facing a challenge from former Passaic County Prosecutor Paul DeGroot on the Republican line in the 11th Congressional District in one of the key races that could determine control of the House.
“This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19 and am experiencing mild symptoms,” said Sherrill in a press statement. “I am thankful for having received both my COVID-19 vaccine and being current on my boosters for the additional protection they provide. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated and get your booster shot this Fall.”
Biden Comments
Sherrill’s positive test comes roughly two weeks after President Joe Biden said during an interview with 60 Minutes that “The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with Covid. We’re still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over.”
Two of the state’s front facing pandemic voices would not go as far as the President did but agreed that New Jersey and the nation are in a better place than a year ago.

New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli offered the new Covid booster could bring about a more definitive end to the pandemic.
“We’re certainly going in the right direction…I really want people to get that new vaccine. If we can get enough people vaccinated with the bivalent vaccine, I think it will be over,” Persichilli said this week after the ceremony to name the health department’s building after her. “I still keep a very close eye on cases, and I’m still concerned that severe disease and hospitalizations and deaths are too high to say it’s over over.”
Murphy added that the state continues to transition where it doesn’t take a overwhelming toll on day-to-day life. “That’s sort of the world I think we’re in,” he said. “There are still 900-something people still in the hospital, folks are still dying, but this is on that road from pandemic to endemic.”

Ignorant criminal psychopaths
The vaxxes are a total failure and have hurt and killed thousands of people
There is no reason for any otherwise healthy person to ever have gotten any one of these shots because covid is not dangerous to most people and the vax doesnt stop infection , spread and transmission
Murphy and perschilli should be arrested and charged with crimes against humanity
