On March 2, Gov. Phil Murphy announced the funding that will dole out to school districts through the state of New Jersey.
In Essex County, there is a 9.5% increase, up $155.6 million to $1.8 billion overall. The district with the largest percentage of aid increases in Roseland, rising 23.3% to $704,000. The only school district not to see an increase was East Orange, which will received $175.1 million.
The district receiving the most state aid in the county is Newark at $1.2 billion, up 11.0%. Conversely, Essex Falls will receive the least aid at $272,000, increasing 116%.
